Our projects and pilot plants

STORASOL is a young company that has established credentials and expertise. In addition to the many years of experience of the STORASOL managing directors in large-scale plant construction, enolcon and STORASOL have built and successfully operated various small plants as part of the high-temperature thermal energy development. The large-scale pilot plant at University of Bayreuth is the first HTTES in the megawatt scale and has 7 years of operational experience.

Our new pressurized HTTES – TESS 3B

Our pressurized high-temperature thermal energy storage TESS3B was developed specifically for use as a thermal power storage (Carnot battery). This allows the heat storage to be discharged under pressure and the hot air to be expanded into a turbine to produce electricity.

OPTES-GT BATTERY

The OPTES-Battery has been further developed into the OPTES-GT for smaller power classes. The OPTES-GT battery is based on an open Brayton Cycle. The OPTES-GT battery was presented for the first time at the 3rd International Workshop on Carnot Batteries on September 28th, 2022 in Stuttgart.

VHTTES – Very High Temperature Thermal Energy Storage

The basic engineering has just been completed for the VHTTES (Very High Temperature Thermal Energy Storage) shown in the figure. The storage systems are to be used in a solar power plant and in a thermal battery for storing electricity. The two storage tanks shown are flowed through with 1000 ° C hot air and have a usable storage capacity of 10 MWh each.

Management

Both STORASOL-Managing Directors have vast experience of each more than 30 successful years in the areas of research, execution of EPC-contracts, operations of power utilities and the management of large business units and international companies. This includes positions in companies like for example E.ON, EnBW, Fortum and M+W Group.

International experience on the basis of many executed projects is forming a solid foundation for the business development and the management of the growth of STORASOL GmbH. Such experience is based as well on EPC- and power plant projects in Syria, Jordan, South Africa, Algeria, Chile, Spain etc.

Dr. Schneider has been working in the field of energy management and power plant technology in Germany and abroad for over 31 years and in various fields, including more than 23 years in management positions as Managing Director.
